The Concept is an exceptional interior design consultancy, with a significant portfolio of substantial projects over many years. Our consultancy works on a highly personal and bespoke level. The depth of our client relationship underpins our approach and methodology, allowing us to create unique and individual design solutions that will also work practically in our clients’ space.
We have a passion for beautiful design. Our furniture has to be noteworthy and yet is required to work in a real home environment – a “high style – high content” approach. Our furniture is re-stored and re-interpreted with real care and passion in a creative and yet sympathetic way. Up-cycling and clever re-invention is a fundamental part of our philosophy.
Our Home Accessories, Decorative Pieces, Art and Design-led Gifts
We carefully and personally select our decorative accessories. We choose unique, eclectic period pieces. Wherever possible our contemporary ranges showcase home-grown, up and coming, small designers. We aim to excite and entice our customers with the uncommon, the individual, the sometimes quirky but always the tastefully salient. We choose things we love ourselves.
Our Paint Ranges
We are very proud to be one of the only two North London stockists of Mylands Paints. This designer range boasts beautiful colours, high quality, amazing finishes and is “by Royal Appointment”. We invite you to come and browse our colour boards and swatches and we are ever-present to offer you our design knowledge and expert eye should you require some advice.
Our Approach to Service
We want our customers to be highly and individually serviced, each feeling valued by us. We endeavour to offer a high level of client service, integrity and care; from a free gift wrapping service, tailor-made hampers, to advice on furniture care on purchase.
The Concept is founded by Lisa Thompson and Fiona Arkell. Together they share a passion for high aesthetics and quality, believing that integrity and high levels of client service should be the bedrock of business. Along with their shared talents and passions, each bring their individual, complementary skills to The Concept.
Lisa Thompson has run her own Brand Consultancy for 25 years, with a talent for creativity and sound business sense. Interior design for her corporate clients has been part of her Brand Consultancy offer, designing outstanding commercial and residential spaces. Alongside this she has set up a house-doctoring and re-styling service. She has a passion for serving each client uniquely and personally, creating bespoke solutions for their creative requirements.
Fiona Arkell has a background in design for print and print buying and management. Her interests then led her to successfully move into interior design 15 years ago. She has an aptitude for renovation and styling and brings with her five years of soft furnishing training. Her discerning eye and her command of practical process is evident in all her projects. Her talents have led her to professionally de-clutter client’s homes with sensitivity and success. Good working relationships with her clients are of great importance to Fiona, interpreting and bringing ideas to life in remarkable designs.
Our Corporate Social Responsibilty
The Concept is a socially aware and socially responsible business. We like to offer internships where possible and support local design courses. We have a keen interest and desire to support local charities and fund-raising initiatives. At the start of the year we plan our “Giving Back” strategy and funding for the following year and we welcome applications by the 20th January. We try to support four local charities and initiatives and we aim to spread this across a variety of sectors.
